PCI questions academy owners ask
What does PCI compliance mean for a martial arts academy?
PCI DSS is the card industry standard for handling card data. In practice it means card numbers should never be stored on your laptop, your front desk tablet or a piece of paper, and the systems that do touch them have to be assessed. Roll Payments runs the program with a Level 1 validated gateway partner and tokenization, so card numbers never reach your site or your devices.
Do I still have to fill in a self assessment questionnaire?
Usually yes, and we give you guidance to complete it. Because payments are tokenized and handled by the gateway, the scope of what you are attesting to is much smaller than if you were keying cards into your own system.
Where are card numbers actually stored?
With the gateway, as tokens. Your academy account shows the last four digits and the expiry so your team can recognise a card, and the number itself is never exposed to the platform, your website or your staff.
What happens if a member disputes a charge?
We provide documentation, evidence templates and support to respond. Good billing hygiene prevents most of them, which is part of what the managed billing team is for.
Does PCI compliance cost extra?
No. The compliance program is part of the $199.99 per gym per month flat fee, like everything else on the platform.
